Woodbridge, May 1, 2018 - Liberal candidate for Vaughan--Woodbridge, Steven Del Duca, takes a strong stand to defend the quality of life for local residents who are understandably concerned about the proposed development at the Board of Trade Golf Course.
“I was very happy to sign Keep Vaughan Green’s petition calling on city council to approve a comprehensive interim control by-law,” said Del Duca. “As a 31-year resident of Vaughan, and as someone who has been honoured to represent my neighbours at Queen’s Park for the past six years, I call on our council to respect our residents’ wishes on this matter.”
Del Duca joined with hundreds of Woodbridge residents at Emily Carr Secondary School on May 1st to hear detailed and informative presentations from Keep Vaughan Green about the potential negative impact the development proposal could have on the quality of life in Woodbridge.
“On the same day that hundreds of our residents were gathering to fight to preserve local green space, Conservative Leader Doug Ford’s secret plan to pave the Greenbelt was exposed,” stated Del Duca. “I understand that Mr. Ford and the Conservative Party have now reversed their reckless plan, but I believe that that was only because they got caught.”
Del Duca also submitted a letter to all members of Vaughan City Council urging them to approve the interim control by-law requested by the community so that a comprehensive review can be conducted with respect to the proposal. Only a thorough, open and transparent review can sufficiently protect the community’s interests.
“The Ontario Liberal Party created the Greenbelt and we have consistently defended preserving public space for future generations to enjoy,” said Del Duca. “In the span of less than 24 hours, Doug Ford and Michael Tibollo flip-flopped on an important issue, and only when they got caught. Woodbridge deserves an MPP who will consistently fight for our families and be on their side. You can count on me.”
